Concerta vs. Adderall Dosage


 The Concerta and Adderall drugs contain several active ingredients, but both have US Food and Drug Administration indications approved for the treatment of attention deficit in children and adults. Concerta, which Ortho McNeil Janssen markets as tablets, contains stimulant methylphenidate. Adderall is also available as a tablet, but contains a mixture of amphetamine salts and is marketed by Shire. Patients who take high daily dosages of Adderall's Concerta, but patients take Adderall more often than Concerta. Both drugs have the potential to cause addiction and abuse. Concerta Daily Dose
patients take Concerta once a day. Prescription information of the drug recommends that all children begin treatment with a 18-mg dose of Concerta, adults can start treatment with a dose of 18 mg or 36 mg. If the children do not show improvement when taking 18 mg of Concerta and there are no serious side effects of the drug, you can start taking daily doses of 36 mg or 54 mg. Adults who need more drugs --- and can take safer --- may have their daily dose of Concerta raised to 72 mg. Doctors must prescribe dose increases in increments of 18 mg.
